Voit - Crow Wedding @ The Club

Hello All: On Saturday December 19Th I found myself back at one of my favorite venue's in Cleveland. The Club @ Key Center is always a great venue for a wedding reception, plus during the month of December they really go above and beyond with some amazing Christmas decorations as well. It was very classy and very festive. The reception was for a truly wonderful couple who I had a great time planning with. Catherine & Andrew tied the knot at The Club as well. Here are some of the major details of this Winter Soiree.

Date: Saturday December 19Th, 2009
Venue: The Club @ Key Center
Photographer: Bishop Photography (Lori)
Santa Claus: Father of the Bride
Memorable Moment(s): Why is it that I can never come up with just one moment, this wedding was jammed full of fun. Here's are just a few things that I will always remember: 1. During the first dance Katie was very much into the moment, she was singing along, dancing and being playful with Andrew. It was very fun to watch. 2. The overly aggressive cake smashing that occurred just after the cake cutting. 3. The surprise visit from Santa Claus for the youngsters in attendance at the wedding. 4. The brides' twin-cousins (Ashley & Meghan age 7) sang "Love Story" by Taylor Swift to the bride and groom ( the whole song ). I have never seen anything so cute at a wedding in my entire professional career. It was awesome and the girls received a huge round of applause. 5. The anniversary dance was also super special. The final three couples were all Grandparents of the bride & groom. Celebrating 49, 50 and 65 years respectfully. Simply jaw-dropping, a true inspiration.

Now on to my iPhone photo's. Yeah you love em'.

Congrats to Andrew & Catherine! Thanks for having me be a part of your winter wonderland wedding! I wish you all the best!

Whitcomb - Tackabury Wedding.

Hello All: Well - It's my 101st post (Seems sorta monumental)....plus it's a new blog post on a kick ass wedding. This past weekend I had the pleasure of DJ'ing for a very hip couple. Nathaniel and Valarie are trendy, thoughtful, educated well-rounded people with an eye for elegance and an ear for good music. (Must be why they chose me! :) ) I was really looking forward to this wedding for two big reasons. First they decided to have their reception at a new venue for me. (Josephats Arts Hall) and their cocktail and dinner music line up was very cool. Lots of ambient music by artists like Air, Tosco, Quite Village, Herbert and Cockteau Twins. I think their musical taste's fit the space and guest list perfectly. The music created the perfect vibe for the event.

Here are the details on the shin-dig.
Date: Saturday December 5Th, 2009.
Transportation: Lolly The Trolley
Memorable Moments: The Energy of the room and guests. Everyone was very ready to party and the night went without a hitch. One of their uncles was also a hit as he did cart-wheels down the center of the dance floor. (think Chris Farley, but not)

Genevieve Nisly Photo Blog (much better photos)
My stellar iPhone photos:

Double L1's, Double Ots AV (Toshiba) set up. Rockin!
The front lobby, greeting area.
The guest tables.
The head table.
Room view. (It's an old church, renovated for social events)
The one, the only, White Flower Cake.
The first dance: "Northern Sky" - Nick Drake
(as seen from the eyes of Genevieve Nisly)
A full dance floor. Looking good.
My lights with fog. I love the effect. I'm glad the groom requested my fogger!
Congrats to the New Whitcomb's! Have fun in Belize.

Saffell + Sanuk = Wedding

Hello All: Thanksgiving weekend was full of Turkey...and Cake. Yup, another wedding this past Thanksgiving weekend for a great couple. I had the pleasure of DJ'ing for Jason & Brittany on Saturday November 28Th, 2009. I was looking forward to this wedding for many reasons and I am jazzed that I got to be a part of their special day. Plus I got to work with a fellow wedding professionals that I had heard a lot about, but never got the pleasure to team up with: Linczak Photography. *Rachel & Ted* are super cool and very talented!

Here are the details on the fantastic function:

Date: Saturday November 28th, 2009.
Linens: L'Nique
Video: James Giganti
Memorable Moment(s): Again, there were a couple: The Best Man's speech was super funny. Within he first 10 seconds he had the entire room in tears from laughter: "For The Occasion" sounds funny when you say it as "Fornication". It was flipin hysterical. I have heard this before in a toast, but it never gets old. Thanks Jim! Watching the bride & her father get down to Usher's "Yeah" was pretty awesome too. (see pic below).

Here are my always amazing iPhone quality photos.
Yeah, you love em:

Kickin' Cake!
The horderves table.

Tiffany + Jaron @ The Club

Hello All: This past Saturday evening I found myself back at one of my favorite venues for a wedding reception: The Club @ Key Center. I love the vibe of this space. Private, classy, sitting on top of the city with a wall of windows that go straight to the floor right there at the dance floor. It's like your dancing on the city. Jaron & Tiffany chose to have their wedding at this super hip & swanky venue and the guests enjoyed it all, especially their "sweets" table! Tiffany & Jaron are a super cool couple. Very much in love and a ton of fun. Jaron can really cut a rug too. Always a good sight for any DJ to see.

Here are the details on the celebration:

Date: Saturday November 21st, 2009
Venue: The Club @ Key Center
Florist: Heather Lily
Photog's: Wes & Lisa (Z Media)
Memorable Moment(s): As usual, there were a couple: The grand entrance was a lot of fun. Just like this bride & groom. We started the entrance with "My Love" by Justin Timberlake and then we hit the crescendo as the bride & groom were introduced as "Mr. & Mrs." with "It Takes Two" by Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock (one of my personal favs). Jaron was also a good dance impersonator. He could break it down like "Carlton" via "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones and he did a mean impression of James Brown to "Papa's Got A Brand New bag". Rock on with your bad self Jaron, rock on!

Here are some kickin' iPhone pics:

The room view @ The Club.
The "sweetheart table".
Guest table setting.
Bose L1's set up and ready to roll.
Cake, Cake, Cake.
A touching poem toast from the Maid of Honor - sister of the bride.
The last dance: "You Shook Me All Night Long" - AC/DC
Congrats! Best Wishes! Have fun in Mexico.

Hello All: Okay, like usual my iPhone quality photo's do NO justice to what the event was really like or how well the brides & grooms planned the small details. Check out RAD's BLOG for the full rundown from last weekend with Lauren & Scott. Plus I personally stole some pics from the RAD blog (just because I was in them). Thanks Rob!

Johnson + Clifford @ Courthouse

Hello All: This past weekend I found myself back at a familiar venue: The Cuyahoga County Courthouse. My office provides entertainment at this venue many, many times per year but I myself have personally been there three times in the last month and a half alone. I'm beginning to really dig it. On Saturday November 14Th Lauren and Scott were blessed with not only a fantastic reception but a beautiful day as well. They could not have picked a better November day for a wedding. I was looking forward to this wedding for many reasons, I truly enjoyed working with Lauren & Scott during the planning process and I need to re-pay RAD by pulling a prank. (which the bride reminded me about). You see, every time Rob (RAD) and I work together he finds some sneaky way to pull a prank...and I never see it coming. This night, I was determined to repay the favor.

Here are the details on this RAD ass event:

Date: Saturday November 14Th, 2009
Venue: Cuyahoga County Courthouse
Florist: Heather Lily
Photog: RAD
DJ: Me, Myself and I. DJ Scott E. Jones - Jerry Bruno Productions

Memorable Moment(s): Again, there were many:
The toast: Done by the brother of the bride (very touching ).
The cake cutting: I have never before seen a bride smash it in her new husbands face so hard and yet the cake filled groom completely restrained, he was very gentle. Way to go Scott.
The Scott Edwards: There were a total of 3 people at the wedding with the same first and middle names: "Scott Edward" (Me, the Groom and a good friend) - how crazy is that?
The Prank: I waited patiently, like LeBron on the court, I waited for the game to come to me, then the opportunity made itself known. Rob and Jackie were seated at a table with the guests and when I noticed Rob had gotten up to take some dinner shots I took the opportunity to sit down with Jackie to make small talk, but really I was stealing Rob's watch that he conveniently left at his seat. I immediately took it to the groom, one of the other Scott Edwards', and he proceeded to put it on for me. It was not until the garter removal that we finally gave a hint (2 plus hours later). Scott and I kept asking Rob if he knew what time it was. Rob was a bit clueless until I pointed at my watch and then he realized he had been had. I think Rob would have left the reception without even knowing had we not given him a few hints. Finally the score is a little more respectable.

Current Prank Tally: Rob 2 - Scott 1.

Stay tuned. In the meantime, check out these kickin' iPhone quality photo's of the night:
